Airbus unveils first Air Canada A220
- 9 November 2019 -
Airbus has unveiled the first A220-300 for Air Canada. The aircraft was rolled out of the painting hangar at the A220 final assembly line in Mirabel in the airline's full livery.
In December, Air Canada will receive the aircraft to become the first - and so far only - Canadian airline to take delivery of this Canadian-designed and developed aircraft. The airline has 45 A220s on order and holds options on 30 more.
The Air Canada A220-300 will seat 137 passengers in a dual-class cabin layout. The new A220s will replace smaller and older narrow-body aircraft and support growth. The smallest narrow-bodies in the airline's fleet are currently the Embraer E-190 and the Airbus A319.
So far, there are 94 A220 aircraft flying with six operators. The A220 has an order book of 530 aircraft. (Photo: Airbus)
