- 20 December 2019 -
Air Canada has received its first Airbus A220-300. It is the first aircraft out of an order of 45.
Air Canada's newest fleet acquisiton will enter service in January 2020. The Canadian carrier is the sixth operator of the A220 and the first airline to operate the longer A220-300 model in North America.
The airline will use the new type to strengthen its position in transborder and transcontinental markets. The A220 will enable it to open new routes that were previously not feasible. In Spring 2020 Air Canada will fly Montreal to Seattle and Toronto to San Jose with the A220.
The aircraft has a dual-class cabin, seating 137 passengers: 12 in business class and 125 in economy class.
