Austrian shows new A320 retrojet

- 26 February 2019 -
Austrian Airlines has painted an Airbus A320 in a new retro look. The aircraft, OE-LBO, made its first flight from Vienna to Zürich in this livery on 26 February 2018.

Austrian aircraft carried the livery in the 1980s, when the airline resumed intercontinental flights after a very long break. Elements of the design are a white fuselage, a big angular chevron (arrow logo), a grey belly and the red-white-red flag of Austria on the tail.

The retro look is a homage to Austrian's destinations Tokyo and New York. In 1989, two Airbus A310 aircraft named Tokyo and New York were part of the Austrian Airlines fleet. Both cities are still successful long-haul destinations for the airline.

OE-LBO is the second Austrian Airlines aircraft wearing a retro livery. The first one was A320 OE-LBP with an older colour scheme. However, this aircraft has been repainted in the new Austrian Airlines standard livery a couple of weeks ago. (Photo: Austrian Airlines)
