Airbus BelugaXL makes maiden flight

The Airbus BelugaXL has performed its maiden flight today. It took off around 10.30 hours from Toulouse Blagnac Airport.
The BelugaXL is a highly modified Airbus A330-200 Freighter for transporting aircraft sections between Airbus locations in Europe. Starting in mid-2019, five BelugaXL airplanes will replace the existing five-member A300 based Beluga ST fleet. (Photo: Airbus)
The crew in the cockpit comprised: captain Christophe Cail, co-pilot Bernardo Saez-Benito Hernandez and test-flight engineer Jean Michel Pin. Laurent Lapierre and Philippe Foucault monitored the aircraft systems and performance. (Photo: Airbus)
