- 22 May 2019 -
Delta Air Lines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330neo, an A330-900. On its delivery flight to Atlanta, the A330neo used jet fuel blended with synthetic fuel.
The airline has 35 A330neos on order and was the launch customer for the A330-900 when it ordered the first 25 aircraft in November 2014. Last year it ordered an additional 10 aircraft.
Delta will initially base its A330-900s at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and operate them on flights to Shanghai, Seoul and Tokyo Narita. The Delta A330-900s seat 281 passengers: 29 in business-class suites, 28 in premium economy, 56 in extra-legroom economy seats and 168 in standard economy.
Delta is now operating both of Airbus' newest widebody models: the A330-900 and the A350-900 XWB, of which it has 13 in its fleet plus another 12 on order. Delta has more than 265 Airbus aircraft in service, also including A321s and A220s. The airline's order backlog with Airbus exceeds 270 jetliners. (Photo: Airbus)
