Low-cost carrier Lion Air (Indonesia) has received its first Airbus A330neo, an A330-900. It is the first airline in the Asia-Pacific region to fly the A330neo.

The aircraft is on lease from BOC Aviation and there are nine more to come. The A330neo will be used by Lion Air on non-stop long-haul services from Indonesia, including pilgrimage flights from cities like Makassar, Balikpapan and Surabaya to Jeddah and Medina in Saudi Arabia. The airline already has three A330-300 aircraft in its fleet.
