SpiceXpress receives first 737-800BCF
- 23 September 2019 -
SpiceJet's cargo division, SpiceXpress, has taken delivery of its first 737-800BCF (Boeing Converted Freighter).
The Indian airline becomes the first 737-800BCF operator in South Asia. The aircraft is on lease from NGF Alpha Limited, a division of Spectre Cargo Solutions. The 737-800BCF has lower operating costs than older standard-body freighters and carries up to 52,800 pounds (23.9 metric tons) of payload. SpiceXpress already flies three converted 737-700 freighters, also leased from Spectre Cargo.
The world's first 737-800BCF entered service last year and its order book has grown quickly to 120 orders and commitments. The program has ramped up production - with output set to more than double to 17 units in 2019 - to meet customer demand. (Photo: Boeing)
