SunExpress exercises 737 MAX options
- 18 November 2019 -
SunExpress (Germany, Turkey) still has full confidence in the Boeing 737 MAX 8. It exercised ten options for the aircraft type, the first firm order since the stream of orders dried up after the grounding in March.
The order was signed at the 2019 Dubai Airshow. The airline already had 32 MAX airplanes on order. The new aircraft are intended as fleet renewal and for growth.
Jens Bischof, CEO of SunExpress said in Dubai: "We have full confidence that Boeing will deliver us a safe, reliable, and efficient aircraft. However, it goes without saying that this requires the undisputed airworthiness of the model, granted by all relevant authorities. Our utmost priority at SunExpress is and has always been safety."
The airline currently operates 49 Boeing 737-800 aircraft - in the last Summer season even a total of 84 aircraft - on non-stop services between Europe and Turkey, as well as to popular holiday destinations on the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, North Africa and the Red Sea coasts. (Photo: Boeing)
