- 19 November 2019 -
Air Astana (Kazakhstan) has signed a letter of intent to order 30 Boeing 737 MAX 8 airplanes for its low-cost subsididary FlyArystan. The letter was signed at the Dubai Airshow.
In May 2019, Air Astana launched FlyArystan in order to compete better in the growing low-cost segment. "Since its launch, FlyArystan has exceeded all expectations and it is clear that low cost air travel has a great future in Kazakhstan and Central Asia," said Peter Foster, President and CEO of Air Astana. The 737 MAX 8 is intended to accommodate this growth.
FlyArystan currently operates three Airbus A320 jets and Air Astana is also a user of the A320 and A321, but also of the Boeing 757-200 and 767-300ER, and the Embraer E190-E2. During its first years of existence, Air Astana flew two 737-700s and two 737-800s. (Image: Boeing)
