- 17 September 2019 -
Embraer has handed over the first production E195-E2 to launch operator Azul Airlines of Brazil and leasing company AerCap.
The Azul aircraft has a 136-seat, single-class layout and is intended for domestic and international routes. The airline expects to receive another five E2s this year. Embraer has a backlog of 124 orders for the type. Azul has ordered 51 and AerCap 45, of which six will also fly for Azul. Other customers are Air Castle (13), Air Peace (10) and Binter Canarias (5).
The E195-E2 is the second and biggest model in the E-Jet-E2 family. It has a new wing and new engines: Pratt & Whitney PW1900G geared turbofans. In a high-density layout it accommodates up to 146 passengers. The E195-E2 is 3 meters longer than the E1 (41.5 meters) and the wingspan is extended from 28 to 35.1 meters. The E195-E2's range is 4,820 km (2,600 nm).
The first model is the E190-E2, of which Embraer delivered the first production aircraft to the Norwegian regional airline Wideroe in early 2018.
The first aircraft has the registration PR-PJN, which refers to Pedro Janot, Azul’s former and first chief executive officer, who suffered a serious accident in 2013, which forced him to give up being CEO of the airline. (Photo: Embraer)
