Binter receives first Embraer E195-E2
- 21 November 2019 –
Binter Canarias (Spain) has taken delivery of its first Embraer E195-E2. Binter has ordered five of the type.
The airline is the first European customer to receive the biggest of the three members of the E-Jet E2 family. Binter's E195-E2 is configured with 132 seats in single class. It currently flies 22 ATR 72 turboprops. Three Bombardier CRJ-1000s are currently operated on behalf of Binter by Medavia (Malta).
The airline currently celebrates its 30th anniversary. It connects the Canary Islands, both inter-island and with external destinations. Its network includes eight cities in the Canary Islands, nine in Africa and two in Portugal. In 2018, Binter carried 3.6 million passengers.
According to Embraer, flight tests show that fuel consumption of the E195-E2 is 1.4 percent lower than expected. That makes 25.4% less fuel per seat compared to the first generation E195. Embraer also claims that the E195-E2 is 4.0 EPNdB quieter than its direct competitor, the Airbus A220. (Photo: Embraer)
