Embraer E-195 Flybe

Embraer E-195LR (ERJ-190-200 LR) - Flybe (UK) - G-FBEC - Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) - July 2008.

Flybe is a British regional and low-cost airline. Until January 2019 it was the biggest independent regional airline in Europe, headquartered in Exeter, but with its main hubs at Manchester and Birmingham. At that time it was taken over by Connect Airways, a company set up by Virgin Atlantic and Stobart Aviation. At the moment of the takeover, Flybe carried 9.5 million passengers a year and served 81 destinations in the UK and other European countries.

Flybe traces back to 1979, when it was founded as Jersey European Airways, the result of a merger of Intra Airways and Express Air Services. After a takeover in 1985 by Walker Steel Group, it was merged with Spacegrand Aviation as 'Jersey European'. In 2000 it was renamed 'British European' and in 2002 became 'Flybe'. In 2007 it absorbed BA Connect. The takeover by Connect Airways in 2019 means that Flybe and Stobart Air will be rebranded under the Virgin Atlantic brand. The airline began phasing out its E-195s and kept the Bombardier Q400 as the backbone of its fleet. Flybe operated a total of fourteen E-195s.
