- 26 October 2018 -
Delta Air Lines has taken delivery of the first of 75 Airbus A220 aircraft. It will enter service in early 2019.
The aircraft is of the smallest version, the A220-100. Delta becomes the fourth operator of the former Bombardier CSeries, after AirBaltic, Swiss and Korean Air. With its order for 75 aircraft, Delta is so far the largest A220-100 customer.
The first A220 for Delta is still built in Canada, but later aircraft will be produced on a second assembly line in Mobile, Alabama. The A220 orderbook currently comprises orders for 400 airplanes.
With 235 aircraft, Delta is already a large Airbus operator. It flies 182 A320 Family members, 42 A330s and 11 A350s, and it has 275 more Airbuses on order. Next year, Delta will become the first U.S. airline to operate the new Airbus A330neo. (Photo: Airbus)
