Airbus A220-300 Air Senegal

- 19 November 2019 -
Air Senegal has signed a 'memorandum of understanding' for eight Airbus A220-300 aircraft.

Air Senegal is the new national carrier of Senegal. It was founded in 2016 to replace bankrupt Senegal Airlines. The start-up airline received its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) in April 2018 and opened domestic services in May 2018 with two new ATR 72-600s turboprops. Later in 2018, it leased two Airbus A319s, and a third was added in June 2019. In November 2017, the airline ordered two Airbus A330-900neo widebodies and became the first operator of this type in Africa. The first A330neo joined the fleet in January 2019, delivery of the second aircraft is expected soon. The intended order for eight A220s reflects the airline's ambitions to expand its network.

So far, the orderlist of the A220 shows well over 500 firm orders. (Image: Airbus)
