- 24 April 2019 - FlyArystan, a low-cost subsidiary of Air Astana (Kazakhstan), has taken delivery of its first Airbus A320 on April 23.

FlyArystan is the country’s first low-cost carrier (LCC). The aircraft, P4-KBB, was previously operated by Air Astana and has a reconfigured cabin with 180 all-economy seats. The airline will initially receive four A320s and plans to increase that number to fifteen within three years.

The airline is founded after Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kazakstan's president until recently, expressed that air travel should be more affordable for the country’s people. The new airline will commence flights on 1 May 2019, from Almaty to Nur-Sultan, Uralsk, Taraz and Karaganda. Later destinations will be Shymkent and Pavlodar. The airline's livery shows a lion head on the tail. Arystan means Lion in the Kazakh language. (Photo: FlyArystan)
