Qatar Airways swaps for bigger A350s

Airbus A350-1000 Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways has upsized five Airbus A350-900s currently on order to the bigger A350-1000.

Qatar Airways is the biggest customer for the A350-1000, with 42 ordered. The A350-1000’s fuselage is seven metres longer than that of smaller A350-900, providing space for 44 more seats in the Qatar Airways cabin configuration. Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker, known as a very critical customer, said: "Since taking delivery of the world’s first A350-1000 in February 2018, we have been extremely pleased with the aircraft’s performance."

The total number of A350 XWB orders by Qatar Airways remains unchanged at 76 aircraft. The airline is the largest A350 customer and currently operates 27 A350-900s and three A350-1000s. (Photo: Airbus)
