Easter Jet first MAX operator in Korea

Boeing 737 MAX 8 Easter Jet

- 19 December 2018 -
Boeing has delivered the first 737 MAX for the Korean low-cost carrier Eastar Jet. The airline is the first operator of the renewed 737 family in South-Korea.

Eastar Jet will take delivery of another 737 MAX 8 later this month. The airline currently operates a fleet of twenty Next-Generation 737s: one 737-700, seventeen 737-800s and two 737-900ER airplanes.

Eastar Jet is based at Seoul Gimpo/Incheon International Airport and began operations in 2007, with 737NGs. It has grown impressively in what is now the largest LCC market in Northeast Asia. Over the past five years, this market segment has grown more than 30 percent annually.

In Eastar Jet configuration, the MAX 8 will be able to fly more that 3,100 nm (5,740 km) - 500 nm farther than the previous 737 models. Eastar Jet wants to use the extra range capability to launch services to new destinations, including Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. (Photo: Boeing)
