Vietjet orders 100 more 737 MAX aircraft

Boeing 737 MAX Vietjet

- 27 February 2019 -
Vietjet has ordered 100 additional 737 MAX aircraft. The Vietnamese ultra lowcost carrier has now 200 737 MAX jets on order.

The new purchase contract includes 20 MAX 8 models and 80 of the larger MAX 10 variant. The order is not really new, however. It was previously mentioned as 'unidentified' on Boeing's Orders & Deliveries website.

Vietjet will become the biggest Asian 737 MAX 10 operator. The 737 MAX 10 is the largest 737 variant and seats up to 230 passengers. The airline placed its first order for 100 737 MAX airplanes in 2016, which was the largest commercial jet purchase in Vietnam's aviation sector at the time. Vietjet currently operates a mix of 64 Airbus A320, A321ceo and A321neo aircraft.

Another Vietnamese airline, Bamboo Airways, confirmed a previous order by an 'unidentified customer' for 10 787-9 Dreamliners. (Image: Boeing)
