Air Astana is the national airline of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is based in Almaty and offers domestic and international scheduled services. The airline was founded in October 2001 and began operations in May 2002. Its main operating bases are the airports of Almaty and Astana. The first of five Boeing 757s entered the Air Astana fleet in October 2003.
