Boeing 757 US Airways

Boeing 757-200 (757-2B7(WL) - US Airways - N202UW - Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (SPL) - May 2009 - US Airways merged with American Airlines in 2013.

US Airways was a major U.S. airline that merged with American Airlines in 2013-2015. It was founded in 1939 as All American Aviation. In 1949 it became 'All American Airlines' and in 1953 it was rebranded 'Allegeny Airlines'. During the years, the airline took over several other airlines, like Lake Central Airlines (1968) and Mohawk Airlines (1972). In 1979 Allegeny Airlines was renamed 'USAir' and continued acquiring other airlines: Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) in 1986, and Piedmont Airlines in 1987. In 1997 the airline's name was changed from 'USAir to 'US Airways'. In 2005 it merged with America West Airlines. When it merged with American Airlines, it operated hubs at Charlotte, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Washington DC. The airline operated a total of 51 Boeing 757's, partly from the fleet of America West Airlines. The colour scheme of the aircraft on the photograph is a mix of the earlier US Airways and America West liveries.
